Gaara, Naruto, Sasuke - Gender Bender Contest

Entry for 's contest. I've never entered a contest, but the temptation of designing ninja girl outfits was too much to resist. It was ridiculous amounts of fun.

With Naruto I decided to make the hair short because I wanted to keep as far away from the sexy-jutsu as I could. I also thought that she'd be quite a tomboy (like Kushina) and she'd keep it short because it would be easier, and since she wouldn't have a mother around to teach her how to style it, it would probably be quite messy. She wouldn't know much about makeup, so she wouldn't bother with it, but I figured she'd paint her short nails just so she could hide the dirt under them, and so she wouldn't have to clean them too often. The outfit has aspects of Naruto's, but I wanted to make it more girly and cute. I used Sakura's skirt as an influence for her's.

Sasuke's outfit didn't change much, but I made it a bit more feminine, such as making it sleeveless, tighter fitting, and adding a sash rather than the rope belt. I made her a bit taller and more slender than Naruto, because I figured as girls, this would add to the rivalry between her and Naruto, as Sasuke would better fit the stereotypical Japanese idea of beauty (thin, pale skin, long straight hair etc), as well as being the more talented of the two initally. The bindings on the arms are a bit of a tribute to Orochimaru.

Gaara's outfit was by far my favourite to design. I kept all the colours and aspects of his original outfit, but I wanted to make it clearly more feminine because I wanted to keep her hair short, and I didn't want it to just look like normal Gaara, but with boobs . The pixie cut is loosely based on my housemate's hairstyle. I loved doing her eyes, because I love eyeliner, and always want to draw on loads of it, but it doesn't work on most characters, but Gaara let me do it!

I'm so happy with how these turned out. I would've done more, but I only found out about the contest two days ago. Maybe I'll do more late anyway. I want a go at Shikamaru.
